DT Max T1

  1. Version highlights

    1. Elimination of the Quebec health contribution for low- and middle-income individuals for tax year 2016

The Minister of Finance of Quebec has announced, in his 2017 budget, that the health contribution for individuals with a net income of up to and including $134,095 would be eliminated retroactively to 2016. For those whose net income exceeds $134,095, the health contribution is 4% of that portion of the net income that exceeds $134,095. It should be specified that the $175 minimum contribution has been eliminated, while the $1,000 maximum contribution remains unchanged.

Please note that the necessary changes have been implemented in DT Max.

For individuals whose income tax return has already been filed, Revenu Québec will make the necessary corrections and send a new notice of assessment if necessary.

    2. CRA Notice of Assessment Electronic Delivery Service (Express NOA Service)

Do you want instant access to the CRA assessment results and faster access to the Notice of Assessment? This service is available in this version of DT Max.

The Canada Revenue Agency's (CRA) Express NOA service, available with EFILE-certified software products, allows authorized representatives to view the result of an assessment immediately after filing a return and to receive the notice of assessment the next day in the software.

See the CRA Express NOA service page in our Knowledge Base for more information on this exciting feature.

    3. Known issues fixed in version 20.20

      1. Calculation of the Quebec amount for a person living alone in the case of involuntary separation of an elderly couple

In the case of involuntary separation, for example, where one spouse is in a residential and long-term care centre (CHSLD) while the other spouse lives alone in their residence, the latter may claim the amount for a person living alone on line 20 of Quebec's Schedule B if the conditions are met.

However, the calculation on Schedule B may be incorrect for the one claiming the amount for a person living alone, which may generate the error code HB0B34 at the time of electronic transmission. This problem is now fixed.

      2. Error in the calculation of the basic Working Income Tax Benefit (WITB) for residents of Newfoundland and Labrador

      3. Calculation of Manitoba's education property tax credit and the seniors' school tax rebate on Form MB479

    4. Federal EFILE (T2203)

We are pleased to announce that DT Max has obtained T2203 certification from the Canada Revenue Agency.

For EFILE purposes, the information from federal form T2203 (Provincial and Territorial Taxes for 2016 Multiple Jurisdictions) will now be transmitted along with the T1 federal return and schedules.
